Welcome to Hebrews Eleven
“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (Hebrews 11:1; NLT)
“Just have faith” We hear this phrase more than any other in out lives. Christian or not, religious or not, when someone’s down, or just having a bad day we tell them to just have faith. But just what does that mean? As a born again Christian, I have had many opportunities to talk about, preach about, teach about the subject of faith. Even after 30 years of walking with God, I must admit that there is still a lot about faith that escapes me, but every day God is showing me just what faith is. What most people see or have heard is that if you believe in something long and hard enough it will come to be. But is that really biblical faith? When I was a new believer I heard the words to a song by Michael Card, the lyrics go something like this “to hear with my heart to see with my soul to be guide by a hand I cannot hold, to trust in a way that I cannot see that’s what faith must be” It’s amazing that something that seems so simple can seem so complicated. What I find is that faith is not something that is can be expressed by just hearing “just have faith”. The foundation of biblical faith is not what we have faith for, but who we have faith in. The bible tells us that Abraham believed God. All biblical faith must begin first with God, not just believing in God, but believing God and because we believe God we can move on what he says. So in the pages of this blog we dive in to real faith lived out day-to-day with God.
